Course Objectives

  1. Following successful completion of the course, trainees will be able to:

  2. Identify the risks associated with the use of Ride-on Mowers

  3. Select appropriate Personal Protective Equipment

  4. Identify and understand the function of all instruments & controls

  5. Carry out daily checks as indicated in the operators manual

  6. Carry out pre-start checks

  7. Identify and report any faults

  8. Adjust the cutting mechanism to achieve the required standard

  9. Operate the machine in a safe and competent manner

  10. Perform after-use maintenance

  11. Understand requirements for travelling on the public road

  12. Be able to load and transport the machine (if appropriate)

Who is the Course For?

Anyone required to use a ride-on mower as part of their work. This would include novice and experienced operators who require their skills updating, with certification

Duration/Format

Suggest 1 day (none drivers or complete novices may need 2 days) (Cylinder or Rotary & flail, Reciprocating Knife or other variants)

NVQ/SVQ Linkage Instructor/Trainee Ratio Max: 1:4 with at least 2 machine (one of each type of required cutting mechanism)
